Mission Report
here
- finished npc 6 and 7/8 and such aka the drunk and the milk incident
- more intensive programming
- need to make new buttons
- I added a lot more buttons and complexity to the button rails for the 4 NPCS as well as started programming a new NPC & convo
- finished the 4-5 npc convos, variable switches, and anxiety counts
- increasing difficulty for convos / more rails
- need to program the rhythm game aspect much further for these four npcs
- finished the dialouge of npc 001 plus nolan interaction
- programed switches and npc 002
- finished decorating bar too
- got A LOT of behind the scenes work done!!!!
- started to make the map for the main scene - the bar/tavern - and inputting interactable npcs
- learnt / solved how to do multiple 'games' within multiple npcs
- figured out how to do multiple buttons and multiple rails (awesome) but due to the nature of the idea, I will have to increase difficulty etc. and will have to do multiple "game" set-ups
- plans for making the town or the bar next, as well as building the environments
- broke and attempted fixing the game multiple times and i think i finally got it working BUT now i have to implement multiple buttons
- took a day or two off to rest and not rip my hair out
- had a great convo with my prof, Jay, and got lots of additional ideas, input, and advice
- on rhythm game: impossible to beat - wingdings, different inputs, etc; speedier + more buttons; anxiety inducing / empathy provoking
- On fourth wall breaking game: auto close or crash game?; picture/google maps of building; photos of gallery space / video of gallery space?; text conversation --> talk to classmate
- Set-up/physicality: lower lights/flickering lights?; humming/buzzing? --> talk to friend; microphones + feedback (delayed); cameras / crt tvs / live feed (delayed)
- plugin dev is my hero!!!! I got the game working - kinda!!!
- the game no longer immediately crashes and freezes and the rhythm game starts!
- i still have to figure out how to do the beat mapping and increase speed, complexity, etc.
- trying to problem solve and communicate with plugin dev
- I bought the plugin for the other rhythm game and it was easy enough to implement but hard for me to understand due to my unfamilarity with the program and the code
- the code WORKS IN THEORY but in practice it crashes the game / makes it impossible to play or close the program. I am not sure as to why ;-;
- the auto functioned - used to make the beat maps - might be the issue, however, when I turn it off there is an issue with the manual code, too
- after some digging into forums and older threads I found some plugins (x100...) and supposedly a way to have a ddr plugin work in rpg maker
- however, after installing all 10000 plugins and play testing the rhythm game set up ... NOTHING WORKS !!!!!
- smth about it being outdated maybe? I looked further in the forums and found an update but THAT DIDNT WORK EITHER!!!!
- i spent an hour or two trying to problem solve and learn (when the instructions were unclear) and got NOTHING!!!!!!
- i checked out a different video / plugin but it's not exactly what I want and its also 15 USD so...
- right now im super discouraged and i hate everything!!!
- i think what i actually need to do is further learn how rpg maker mv works and play within the programs limits before trying plug ins and coding and whatever
- however!!!! this sucks bc now idk what to do for my exhibition/school work!!!!!
Beginning: - starting with Elizabeth Metzger trying to find new adventuring party /sign-up at local guild - Guild lets Elizabeth (player) pick from 3 party options; all of which will not work out as Elizabeth misses every attack) - Lily and Nolan stand up for Liz at the guild and agree for them to join their new party - Motivation for adventuring: - Elizabeth - making friends and to be loved - Lily - prove self to church / gain acolytes and following in older sisters path - Nolan - raise money for sick mother and aid in village building new bridge - worldbuilding and character building via adventuring and quests/
Act 2: - building friendship and romantic relationship(s) with Lily and Nolan - levelling up characters and relations - think of larger questline? - worldbuilding - church/religion as faith/human-made - magic comes from "faith" in the religion - religious domination and marginalization - stricter gender roles, class systems, etc. - monsters as sinners / non believers
Act 3: - Lily or Nolan confession turning into possession - genre change - fantasy/romance --> psychological horror - characters, world, and psyche falling apart - harder battles - losing battles - hostility from party (if they are present) - hostility from npcs - more mini-games - higher skill level / impossible mini games - others as monstrous - self as monstrous - mental breakdown + breakdown of game - RYTHM GAME IN THIS ACT
Conclusion: - store npc reaches out / checks in - little reasons not to commit suicide - 'see you tmrw' - magic item sale - feeding strays - interruption - disappointing friends and family - learning to find and build community - how to be alone but not lonely - importance of friendship and QP relationships - learning to love self !!!! - standing up for self and others - undertale love battle against monstrous self
- using a mind map method to make structure of story/ plan story beats
- need to create a story board / flesh out more story ideas and timelines
- interested in story planner . com but unsure if it works with my brain. Might use obsidian as well.
- I created a brief section of the over world, the "starting" beach town, and the first house
- I also created the roughs - in-game character creator - models for Liz, Lily, and Nolan
- Planning to insert my logbook here!
